This will be an article to help start research the EV resgistration data of Washington State.
We can determine from these images that Tesla had a spike in 2023. By itself, these graphs tell us nothing, however if we combine these with different information:
While the graph does not show every year up to 2025, up to 2019, the overall registered EVs is pretty similar looking to the Tesla registered EVs, possibly indicating that Tesla is an indicator for the market itself.
This graph tells us that planned EV investments largely align with more populous areas: Seattle and Spokane, both major cities. Combined with the previous information, we can discertain that the amount of EVs regsitered in an area is somewhat indicated by how well Tesla is doing and that sales center around major cities.
There are a couple things we can do. If the goal is to increase the amount of EV's, the state could:
Washington's Department of Licensing (DOL):
Detailed data regarding various types of non-gas vehicles.
Department of Energy's Alternative Fuels Data Center (AFDC):
State-level data about registration totals and trends.
Atlas EV Hub:
Independant platform that visualizes datasets. Works in conjunction with the previous two for data visualization.
